And first broken bone: check. Collar bone, to be exact. Everyone can agree that Cash is, well, active. Little man was running all over yesterday, then wanted up in Daddy's lap so he could look at the silver box (laptop). All was fine until Cash got a little too excited, jumping up and right off Dad's lap. Todd tried his best to catch him, but that's one wild monkey we're talking about.
At first, we weren't sure if he was hurt or just shaken up by the fall. So we watched him carefully and called the doctor after noticing he was favoring his left side, cautiously moving that arm if at all, and letting out a cry whenever we picked him up.
Two hours later, the on-call doctor phoned and advised us to bring him to the ER. Off we went. A few more hours, one misdiagnosis and two sets of x-rays later, we were prescribed acetaminophen with codeine and sent on our way.
Though not as active as he would be normally, the little patient is doing remarkably well. Thanks to codeine, he got a good night's sleep and still tries to make us laugh with a scrunchy face or two. He even managed to stand up in his crib this morning without assistance. (Yesterday, he was unable to get up from a lying down position.) So, he seems to be well on his way to recovery — although the doc said it would be a few weeks before he's back to his usual, crazy self.
Poor little monkey! Give the tough bugger a kiss and a pat on the head for me. No fun!
ReplyDeleteoh noes, poor little guy!
ReplyDeleteHope he heals up quick.
Baby X-rays are the saddest, but they're the cutest X-rays I've ever seen, too, because everything is baby small. Stellan and I give a knuckles salute to the Casher, and send him get-well wishes for a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear this!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope Cash is ok!
